If you want to enjoy a real market- then this is the place you should go. Here you find all kinds of fresh vegetables, fruit, spices, cheese, fish and meat.

After that you have been to the Mercado Central, go west just across the river and ask for the La Vega. This area is huge and covers at least 4 blocks. Here you meet another face of Santiago, and you begin to understand the diversity of the city. You will be meet by friendly sellers and a endless variety of colourful products.

How to get there: Leave the Mercado central, cross the river bridge and there it is impossible to miss. Or take the metro.
