About ChileChile possibly is of Mapuche origin meaning Land at the end of the world. There is a saying that everything that was left after the creation of the world, God placed in Chile. The country is long and narrow with a length of 4,300 km and average less than 200 km wide. Chile is filled with a range of extreme geographical contrasts and breathtaking beauty. In the north the Atacama Desert , the driest desert in the world, in the west the impressive Pacific Ocean in the west, the imposing Andes mountain range in the east ( reaching height of 6000 m) and the Patagonia, Tierra de Fuego and the Antarctic in the south. Chile has also many forests, volcanoes, national parks (famous Torres de Paine) and islands. There country is rich in water resources and offers many lakes, thermal springs, clear blue skies and rivers. The climate is ideal for of producing pisco, wine, olives growing vegetables and fruit. The climate Santiago is Mediterranean, warm, with regular temperature variations between summer and winter. Rain occurs mainly between March and September (autumn and winter), and very rarely during summer. The average is 9º Celsius in winter and it is 22º Celsius (reaches more than 30º) in summer.
